Thermal Imaging (Infrared) is a great compliment to a home or business energy assessment. If you are unsure of insulation in walls, thermal imaging can locate areas of inadequacies. You should only engage the services of a Certified Thermographer who is knowledgeable in building sciences. Anyone can buy a thermal camera. But not everyone has the knowledge and expertise to use a camera to its fullest capabilities and accurately interpret the results.
There needs to be a difference of at least 18 degrees from the outside and inside of the home for a thermal imaging camera to work properly. The middle of summer or the middle of winter are the best times to use this service. Older homes with unknown insulation in walls are the best candidates for thermal imaging.
