This audit includes collecting necessary data, performing a blower door test and combustion air zone tests to determine air leakage and any health and/or safety issues, and complete a top to bottom inspection to find potential problem areas. As a part of our comprehensive energy audit, we prepare a thorough report with recommendations for specific energy efficient improvements with estimated costs and simple payback evaluation. |
 | Blower Door Testing - A blower door test is the best way to measure how "air tight" your home is and to determine areas of air leakage. The test consists of simulating a 25 mph air flow through the home with a calibrated fan and a pressure sensing digital manometer device to measure the air flow rate out of your home. The amount of air flow at a determined air pressure is used to determine your home's air tightness. The blower door also allows us to physically find areas in your home's building shell that conditioned air leaks in and out. |
 | Thermal InfraRed Imaging - Thermography is the use of an infrared imaging and measurement camera to "see" and "measure" thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible because its wavelength is too long to be detected by the human eye; it's the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Unlike visible light, in the infrared world, everything with a temperature above absolute zero emits heat. Infrared allows us to see what our eyes cannot. Extra charge will apply. |
 | Combustion Air Zone Testing - In order to assure the health and safety of your family, we perform a safety test for natural gas leaks, carbon monoxide, chimney drafting ability, combustion by-product spillage, and worst case de-pressurization of the combustion air zone. We will make recommendations for necessary safety improvements based on this testing. |
